August 4, 2008 - Catfish Contest

Here it is almost August, and the post spawn bite should be better than ever right now. What a time to hold a Cat Contest, with warm summer nights and the water levels are managable.

This next one will be held on Saturday August 2nd between the hours of 7:00 pm and 6:00 am Sunday morning. The entry fee is $10.00 with total payout to the top two places in both Flathead and Channels. The control item will be given out the day of the contest. All pictures with lenght and girth measurements must be submitted to either this post, or to bob@mooresbait.com. by 7:00 pm Sunday night to be eligable.

The boundries will be the trussel bridge in Carver, down stream to the confluence on the MN river. Pools 1 & 2 of the Mississippi (Coon paids damn to the Hastings damn). From the Acola bridge down stream to Prescott on the St. Croix.

This will be one of the two last Cat contest of the year. So if you want to take part, your chances are fading. We look forward to a great trunout like last time. Everyone please be careful out there, and lets catch some fish.....

July 22, 2008 - Pool 2 CPR Walleye Contest

Back once again by popular demand is the Moore's walleye catch and release contest on pool 2. This next one will be on Tuesday July 22, between the hours of 5pm to 9pm. Boundries are pool 2 of the Mississippi (from the ford damn down stream to the Hastings damn).

The entry fee is $10.00 per person, to be paid at Moores prior to close of business on Monday 21st of July. Total payout to the top two places. Later on we will announce a control item that will be used (preferably not just a funny picture like drewsdad said).

The pictures along with measurements of length and girth should be submitted to this post prior to 8:00am Wednesday (the following day) for consideration.

The first one we had a twenty-seven win it, then last time we had a cat fisherman take honors with a 28 1/4. So who will take this next one is up for grabs, with alot of new faces each time, and the walleyes themselves moving around. At this present time we have guys (Mike W & Bob Johnston)already out pre-fishing for this next one. Like they have any chance.......But that is for a later post....

We hope you will jooin us out there, and please be careful...Thanks.,

July 12, 2008 - Catfish Contest Results

The results are in from this past weekends cat contest. It was a windy one out there, but some people were able to work thru it and put some fish in the boat. Though the bite was tough with all the latest weather patterns recently, one could tell by the number of fish caught that the spawn was over, and good things are yet to come. I am not sure about others but cut shad was the producer for our boat. We also used suckers but they spent more time gumming them than anything else.

It was a teriffic turn out, and a nice night to be out. Thanks to all that particapated, and hope we can do this again next month.

June 10, 2008 Pool 2 Walleye Contest Results

I first want to thank all that particapated in our first walleye contest. A special note to the winner with the only fish submitted Jon Jordan. Since he has expressed that his winnings go to ARM, and with no 2nd place fish entered. All winnings from this contested will be submitted to ARM. It was a tough night out there to say the least. From Mondays pre-fishing to contest the water had come up almost two feet. My boat partner and I (mainly my boat partner) were only able to land a sheephead, Sauger, and a Nice little Flathead. I think we also gave away thirty dollars in plastics and hair jigs to the wing damns....... We had a great time, and we look forward to doing this again next month. Hope more can come out and join us next time for a nice night on the water........
